Gheorghe Palcu was born in Constanta, Romania,where he went on to study at the Conservatoire  and sang with the choir of the Opera House .

 

In 2003 he continued  his studies  at  the Jacopo Tomadini Academy of Music in Udine, Italy, where he gained degrees in singing with Elisabetta Lombardi (2007) and in vocal chamber music with Mirna Pecile (2009 ).

 

He  has taken  part in Master Classes with, Alessandro Corbelli, Sherman Lowe , Sonia Prina , Teresa Berganza , Leontina Vaduva, Viorica Cortez,Mariella Devia, Sigiswald Kuijken, Emma Kirkby,Paolo Fagotto and others.

 

In 2011 he was awarded first prize at the Festival of  Romanza da Salotto Conegliano, Italy.

 

In  2012 he took part in Project Mozart Livorno, and sang the  roles of Masetto and Commendatore in Don Giovanni under the direction of  Mariella Devia, Alberto Paloscia and Alessio Pizzech. Thanks to his participation in this project, he won a bursary for  best male performer awarded   by the Rotary Club of Livorno.

 

In 2013 he sang the role of Taddeo in Italiana in Algeri, in Porto Ercole, Italy.

2015

During January and February 2015 he performed in the Opera Faust as a member of the

chorus in the Everyman Theatre, Cork, Ireland.

 

With the Woodhouse Opera Company he sang roles of Seneca and Littore ( Coronation of Poppea); Alidoro ( La Cenerentola); Pistola ( Falstaff ) conducted by Marcio de Silva .

 

With the Black Cat Opera Company, he sang the role of Don Alfonso ( Così fan tutte) in Electric Theatre, Guildford, conducted by Peter Ford.

 

2016

 

On 20th February with the Woodhose Company, he sang the roles of Hidraot and Ubalde, from Armide , J. B Lully.

 

In March, he took part in the Rossini Revealed Festival , in London, Gaetano Lo Coco conductor and Dionysios Kyropoulos , director.

In April , he sang the role of Figaro, from Marriage of Figaro, with the Ensemble OrQuesta, Jenny Miller (stage director), and Marcio da Silva,( music director).in Hastings  -UK

On 12th of June  he sang the role of Don Magnifico from the opera La Cenerentola, as part of the Festival of Centre European  de Musique , in Bougival, France.

On the 23th of July he sang the role of Talpa from the Puccini’s Opera Il Tabarro , in Dublin , (Drolheda)  Ireland ,Kassandra Dimopoulou stage director and Philip Dennis conductor.

​

On the 30 and 31st, with  the Clyde Opera Company he sang the roles of Alcindoro , Benoit , and Colline from  “ La Boheme” in Glasgow  with Razvan (  conductor) and Tom Cooper (stage director).

With the Black Cat company  on the13th July he sang  the role of Don Alfonso from the opera Così fan tutte for   Birgitta Festival ,(Tallinn , Estonia) with the National Symphonic Orchestra , Peter Ford  ( conductor) and Keiko Sumida ( stage director )

On the10th of September he sang the role of Talpa from Pucini’s Opera  “ Il Tabarro “ in Romano Forum  Thessaloniki Greece, Kassandra Dimopoulou (stage director) and Philip Dennis (conductor).

​

On the 13th ,14th and 15th of October he sang the roles of Alcindoro and Benoit from “ La Boheme “ with The Berlin Opera Group in Berlin at the Brotfabrik  in Berlin.

​

On the24th November he sang the role of Guglielmo from “Cosi fan tutte “in The Teacher’s Club in Dublin .
